"BACK TO THE PAST: HORSERIDER SEQUENCE"

I thought it would be fun to post some key poses from one of the animation layout sequences I did for the HAUNTED HOUSE EPISODE of SAMURAI JACK...

This consequently was the episode I won an Annie Award for.

Now we're talking! I've always wanted to see these! Absolutely fantastic. Thanks for posting them up, Andy!

I should ask... what kind of art direction did you get on this episode? Were you left to your own devices to come up with the look?

Well deserved, I say. Thanks for sharing these. It must have been awesome to work on that show. It was an instant classic.

Bloody hell, these are phenomenal. I've had a bit of an iffy day, creatively speaking, and these are a big inspiration to keep going on. The horse and rider in the second pic is just too much, man :)

These are amazing. It's a cracking episode but these pieces are incredible.

Thanks for the kind words, chaps!

As for for stylistic direction in this episode--it was sort of Genndy pushing my comic inking style more expressive, mixed with a little Lone Wolf and Cub Manga inspiration...and viola, the Demon Horse was created.
